AP Spanish Language

Who should take this course? The AP Spanish Language course is open to any student who has successfully completed Spanish IV or its equivalent.

Course Overview:
This course is designed to replicate the experience of a third year college course in Spanish language. As such, the class will be conducted exclusively in Spanish, and the students will be asked to demonstrate their knowledge of the Spanish language in the following ways:
• understanding and interpreting authentic Spanish in a variety of registers: radio interviews, advertisements, newspaper articles, literary selections, songs and Internet articles.
• expressing themselves orally to debate, question, express ideas and describe.
• expressing themselves in writing formally to compare/contrast, express opinions, summarize presentations, and informally to send emails, letters and postcards.

Students will have nightly homework. These assignments vary from reading selections and answering questions to listening activities, speaking activities and writing emails and formal compositions.  All activities that are done in class and at home will be graded according to the AP rubrics--they will be adjusted each quarter to an appropriate level for the student.
